Preparation of lipophilic extracts from the red pulp of the fruits of Pandanus conoideus, useful for prophylaxis and/or treatment of tumors, by direct pressing of separated red pulp or by extracting the separated red pulp

Preparation of lipophilic extracts from the red pulp of the fruits of the species Pandanus conoideusby direct pressing of the separated red pulp or by extracting the separated and cut-up red pulp at temperatures below 40[deg]C. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for the preparation of a hydrophilic extract from the separated seeds of the fruit of the species Pandanus conoideusby cutting-up of the seeds and extraction of the cut-up seeds with a hydrophilic solvent; (2) a method for the preparation of an extract from the red pulp and/or the seeds and/or from the internal, light-colored pulp of the fruits of the species Pandanus conoideusby means of supercritical fluids; (3) an extract obtained by the above method; (4) a combination of at least two extracts that is obtained by the method; and (5) a pharmaceutical composition containing at least an extract from Pandanus conoideustogether with at least a pharmacologically compatible auxiliary material, carrier material and/or solvent. The antitumor activity of the Pandanus conoideusextract was tested using lung cancer cells. The result showed that the extract exhibited an IC 50value of 15556.35 mu g/ml.
