CULTURE CONTAINER AND CULTURE APPARATUS

It is intended to provide an apparatus for efficiently culturing a fertilized egg and a culture method therefor. Namely, a culture container which is a rectangular box made of a deformable material. In this culture container, which has a top face, a bottom face and side walls standing upward from the whole periphery of the bottom face, a rectangular box-shaped closed space is formed by the top and bottom faces and the side walls, the top and bottom faces are oxygen- and carbon dioxide-permeable, and a pair of side walls facing to each other is provided with engagement parts for engaging the culture container with an extension unit for extending the culture container uniaxially in the horizontal direction. A fertilized egg can be highly efficiently cultured by using this culture container, locating mammal-origin somatic cells and the fertilized egg on the bottom face of the closed space filled with a culture liquid, and conducting coculture while periodically extending the culture container uniaxially in the horizontal direction. The fertilized egg obtained by this culture method shows an extremely high implantation rate.
