<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective surface treatment method of improving a durability of slide member which can be applied to the member small and complicated in profile, and has a merit in cost. <P>SOLUTION: The slide member is formed by sintering ferrous powder material with FeO dispersing on at least surface layer. By using synthetic oil as a lubricating oil, active FeO is exposed to sliding surface.
