PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label mounting method and a label mounting apparatus which beautifully mount a cylindrical shrink label on a body part even when a cup-like container can not be turned upside down. SOLUTION: At first, at a label feeding positionα, after a label L is fitted from the upper side on a pedestal mandrel 11 of a head to be fitted with the label, at a container feeding positionβ, a container C is placed on the upper end face of the pedestal mandrel 11, and is sucked and held on the upper end face of the pedestal mandrel 11. Then, an elevation of a carrier plate 13 causes the label L fitted on the pedestal mandrel 11 to be taken up, and the label L to be fitted to the body part of the container C placed on the upper end face of the pedestal mandrel 11 from the lower side. Thereafter, while the upper end part, the lower end part and the middle part of the label L are stepwise heated and shrunk by the first to third heating means 6a, 6b and 6c, the container C is delivered outside of the apparatus by a container delivering unit.
