<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose operation components, generating abnormal sound among a plurality of operation components of an image forming apparatus, in a short period of time and without increasing the cost. <P>SOLUTION: In an abnormal sound diagnosis operating mode, a control section 100 operates a drum motor M5, a developing motor M4, a feed motor M1, a main motor M2 and an IBT motor M3, in this order respectively for a predetermined time. Furthermore, the control section 100 connects a registration clutch 104 and operates the main motor M2 for the predetermined time, and then operates the drum motor M5 and the developing motor M4 for the predetermined time. At this time, the operating motors M1 to M5 and registration clutch 104 are displayed on a liquid crystal display panel 106. This makes it possible for a person checking the maintenance to specify, in a short period of time, which of the motors M1 to M5 are generating abnormal sounds during the operation.
