PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of recognizing a target without being affected by changes in environmental light in a target space. SOLUTION: The image processor includes a light detection element 10 having a plurality of light-sensitive parts 1a aligned thereon for picking up images of the target space; an image creating part 3 for creating an amplitude image where the difference (amplitude value of light reception output) between the light reception output of each photosensitive part 1a when no light is applied from a light source 2 to the target space and the light reception output of each photosensitive part 1a when light is applied from the light source 2 to the target space serves as a pixel value; a feature quantity extracting part 4 for extracting the feature quantity of an object Ob present in the target space, based on the amplitude image created by the image creating part 3; a similarity computing part 5 for collating the feature quantity of the object Ob extracted by the feature quantity extracting part 4 with a previously registered template so as to calculate their similarity; and a target recognizing part 6 recognizing as a target corresponding to the template any object Ob whose similarity calculated by the similarity computing part 5 is equal to or greater than a predetermined value.
