PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for repairing a multilayer coating film comprising a metallic base coating film containing a metallic glittering material and a color pigment and a colored coating film containing a color pigment having the color being the same as or approximate to that of the color pigment contained in the metallic base coating film, in which method the appearance of a repaired part is made equal to that of the unrepaired coating film to obtain a sense of continuity sufficiently with an unrepaired part. SOLUTION: The multilayer coating film is obtained by forming the metallic base coating film containing the metallic glorious material and the color pigment, the colored coating film containing the color pigment having the color being the same as or approximate to that of the color pigment of the metallic base coating film, and a second clear coating film in this order on an object to be coated. The method for repairing the multilayer coating film comprises the steps of: grinding a portion to be repaired; applying a repairing water-soluble base coating material, which contains the color pigment having the color being the same as or approximate to that of the color pigment of a metallic base coating material to be used when the multilayer coating film is formed and contains an interference mica pigment as a glittering material but does not contain the metallic glittering material, to the ground portion; and forming a repairing colored coating film and a repairing clear coating film on the applied repairing water-soluble base coating material.
