PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snow-melting structure of an existing road surface, which shortens a construction period, makes installation costs lower, and increases snow-melting efficiency, by constructing a snow-melting road surface using the existing road surface, without the complete collapse of the existing road surface, and a linear heating element for use in the snow-melting structure. SOLUTION: A channel is drilled in the existing road surface. The linear heating element is housed in a meandering manner in the channel. In the linear heating element, an outer periphery of a sheath material, into which a resistance wire is inserted and which is filled with a heat-resistant insulator, is covered by braiding a nickel-plated annealed copper wire. A snow-melting road bed of mortar or concrete, into which a far-infrared ray generating substance is mixed, is formed in the channel and on the existing road surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
