<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves identifying a source area (Tsi), of a set of source areas, to which source colors (OA0-OA2) belong, where the source areas are obtained by partitioning m-cube of color gamut of a source color space. The source colors are mapped in an n-cube of color gamut of a destination color space to obtain destination colors (OA0, OA`1, OA`2). The n-cube is partitioned into a set of k destination areas. The mapping operation is adapted such that the set of colors of each source area is mapped in a same destination area (Tdi). #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for converting a source color expressed in a source color space e.g. three-dimensional color space, with m primary colors i.e. red, green and blue, into a destination color expressed in a destination color space e.g. hexa-dimensional color space, with n primary colors i.e. red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow, (claimed) of standard video signals e.g. national television systems committee (NTSC) video signal, phase alternating line (PAL) video signal, European broadcasting union (EBU) video signal, and international telecommunications union radiocommunications-709 (ITUR-709) video signal. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The mapping operation is adapted such that the set of colors of each source area is mapped in the same destination area, thus guaranteeing the fidelity of color reproduction while passing from one color space to the other.
