The method involves producing information relative to presence or absence of an artificial light near a motor vehicle using a sensor, where the artificial light is produced by an alternating current. The information is integrated as a switching parameter, and a triggering event of switching of a light beam to another light beam is detected, where the event is a detection of vehicle spot speed lesser than a threshold value. A switching operation of the former beam is performed only if the information ensures the presence of the artificial light.
