A mobile terminal having a touch key and a touch key control method are provided to supply a higher touch sensitivity to a user when the user manipulates touch keys with both of his hands. A sensor unit(130) includes sensors corresponding to respective touch keys(120), and when a touch key is touched, the sensor unit senses a change in capacitance and outputs a sense signal corresponding to the touched key. A memory unit(150) stores an event corresponding to the sense signal. When one of the touch keys is touched and a sense signal is applied from a corresponding sensor, a controller(140) reads an event corresponding to the sense signal from the memory unit and executes it. If a different touch key is touched while the event is being executed, the controller interrupts the event to stop execution of the event and controls to execute the different event corresponding to the different touch key.
