PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a silicon raw material for manufacturing a silicon ingot at a low cost. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the silicon raw material comprises a step of solidifying a silicon melt in a mold onto which a release agent is applied to form the silicon ingot 1, a step of cutting a superficial area of the silicon ingot 1 to cut out a superficial member 10, a step of removing the surface of the silicon ingot 1 within the superficial area through surface treatment and a step of using the surface-treated superficial member 10 as the silicon raw material.
