PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid AF type camera capable of performing focusing operation at higher speed. SOLUTION: The camera is equipped with a CPU 10 which performs first focusing operation for driving a focusing lens 3B by a lens driving amount having a difference as much as a predetermined lens moving amount from a lens driving amount obtained by an AF arithmetic operation part 94, and continuously performs second focusing operation for driving the focusing lens 3B to a lens position where a focus evaluated value becomes maximum, and is equipped with a CPU 10 which obtains a corrected moving amount replaced with the predetermined lens moving amount on the basis of a driving amount equivalent to a difference between a lens position decided to be a position where focusing is attained by the AF arithmetic operation part 94 and the lens position where the focus evaluated value becomes maximum and a reference moving amount by which the maximum value of the focus evaluated value can be detected in the second focusing operation, and performs the first focusing operation according to the lens moving amount based on the corrected moving amount.
