PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the selection of desirable images, such as properly exposed images, from many images. SOLUTION: When a dark side value and a light side value are set and a folder is specified, about each image in the folder, a histogram is generated from image data and, with the generated histogram, it is determined whether or not there are pixels whose luminance value is smaller than the dark side value and there are pixels whose luminance value is larger than the light side value (Step 100 to 112), and images without such pixels are added to a display list (Step 114). Images are displayed according to the display list thus created, so that only desirable properly exposed images can be displayed on a monitor out of many images (Step 118).
