PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine capable of preventing erroneous detection of a position sensor caused by an influence of a disturbance light beam, even in constitution for detecting a vertical position of the first moving mechanism by a noncontact type position sensor. SOLUTION: This vending machine is provided with a sensor cover 35 for covering a moving route of the position sensor 34 for detecting the vertical position of the first moving mechanism 32, the moving route of the position sensor 34 is shielded from an outside by the sensor cover 35, and the position sensor 34 is thereby precluded from generating the erroneous detection by the disturbance light beam to prevent surely a defective operation of an article conveying mechanism 30.
