PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of eliminating jamming of a sheet when attaching and detaching a sheet storage means by easily attaching and detaching the sheet storage means with a simple constitution even when arranging a feeding means in a constant fixing position to the sheet storage means. SOLUTION: A movable member 5 is arranged so as to be movable between an abutting position abutting on a loading sheet S by further projecting from the feeding means 2 and a retreat position separating from the loading sheet by retreating from the feeding means. A control means controls so as to separate the sheet from the feeding means by positioning the movable member in the abutting position when attaching and detaching the sheet storage means 1 and to bring the sheet into pressure contact with the feeding means by positioning the movable member in the retreat position when performing feeding operation.
