PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of wet-type skin pass rolling, which method can prevent the fracture of plates due to defective shapes and the erroneous recognition of the fracture of plates, and can stably carry out the rolling operation, and further to provide a rolling mill therefor. SOLUTION: In the wet-type skin pass rolling mill 11 composed of one or two rolling stands, a looper 41 is arranged on the inlet side and/or the outlet side of the wet-type skin pass rolling mill, wherein the height of the looper 41 is adjusted such that the tension of the plate is increased to be larger than the allowable lower limit of the tension when the tension of the plate has become lower than the allowable lower limit of the tension. By this configuration, the fracture of the metal strip S and the erroneous recognition of the fracture of the strip caused by the higher order variation of the tension, such as the tension-loss, the tension-up due to jumping of the plate, can be prevented.
