SOLUTION: In a composite lathe structured to transmit the rotation of a main shaft motor through a belt to a main shaft, a belt tension is increased only in the case of C shaft working. That is, when the conversion of the working program of an NC device into a C axial mode is commanded, a tension addition signal (a) to operate a tension addition device 15 of a main shaft driving belt 11 wound between the main shaft and the main shaft motor is output, and when recovery from the C axial mode is commanded, a tension addition release signal b to release the operation of the tension addition device is output.
