PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the production efficiency of a fatty acid alkyl ester. SOLUTION: A fatty acid alkyl ester is produced by proceeding esterification reaction between a fatty acid and a carboxylic acid ester under prescribed temperature and pressure conditions (step X). The fatty acid is a free fatty acid in a raw oil-and-fat or a fatty acid obtained from a raw oil-and-fat through a prescribed step. The prescribed step preceding the step X is, for example, a step A to carry out transesterification reaction of a fatty acid glyceride in the raw oil-and-fat with a carboxylic acid under prescribed temperature and pressure conditions to obtain the fatty acid or a step B to hydrolyze the fatty acid glyceride in the raw oil-and-fat under prescribed temperature and pressure conditions to obtain the fatty acid.
