The ram protection (9) for a vehicle (1), especially a cross country or pick-up vehicle, is at the leading bumper (7) with a shield (11) which can be moved between an upper position shrouding the radiator and a lower position shielding the under side. The shield is moved between the two positions by an actuator (23) acting on a structural member (15) at the under side of the vehicle, supported at the front axle (21).
