DEVELOPING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that prevents degradation of carrier for a long term even if successively forming an image with a comparatively small image area ratio, and to provide an image forming apparatus.

SOLUTION: The developing device 2a includes: a developer tank 16 for receiving a developer 24 including toner, the carrier for charging the toner and reverse polarity particles charged in reverse polarity with respect to the charge polarity of the toner by means of the carrier; a developer carrier 11 on the surface of which the developer supplied from the developer tank is carried; and a separation mechanism 22 for separating the toner or the reverse polarity particles from the developer on the developer carrier. In this arrangement, the reverse polarity particles are collected into the developer tank, and the image forming apparatus is provided with the developing device.
