<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input method and an input device for compact information equipment, dissolving trouble and inconvenience of performing complicated operation or multiple times of pushing of a main key, a function key and a scroll key, and mis-operation likely to be generated by multiple times of operations, when inputting character information. <P>SOLUTION: A character string (31a) arranged in a matrix state is displayed on a display face (31) of a display part (3), and an indication position of a cursor (31b) is displayed in a state that the indication position indicates each character of the character string one by one. A cursor type input part (21) of a main body part (2) is movement-operated, so that the indication position of the cursor (31b) moves along the character string (31a), and the character is selected.
