PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical switching apparatus for civil use which has low optical loss and a simple structure. SOLUTION: The optical switching apparatus has a first optical connector 12 provided on the main body of the apparatus, a plurality of second optical connectors 13 provided on the main body of the apparatus, a switching part 15 to which an optical fiber 14 which is connected to the first optical connector 12 is connected, a selecting mechanism 26 which moves the switching part 15 in the selecting direction of the plurality of the second optical connectors 13, an inserting/removing mechanism 31 which moves the switching part 15 in the inserting/removing direction with respect to the second optical connector 13, and an operating part 34 to operate the selecting mechanism 26 and the inserting/removing mechanism 31. When the operating part 34 is depressed, the inserting/removing mechanism 31 moves the switching part 15 in the separating direction from the second optical connectors 13, and the operating part 34 is slid, the selecting mechanism 26 moves to the front of the second optical connector 13 which selects the switching part 15, and when the depression of the operating part 34 is released, the inserting/removing mechanism 31 moves the switching part 15 in the approaching direction to the selected second optical connector 13.
