PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide relatively inexpensive punch and die for press brake respectively capable of prolonging life of the die by preventing the local wear. SOLUTION: In the punch 2 for the press brake, a surface hardening treatment for forming a hard film 5 is applied to a part of the section L<SB>1</SB>in the longitudinal direction of the punch 2 and only to the tip part 2a of the punch 2 by electrical discharge machining. In the die 3 for the press brake, a surface hardening treatment for forming a hard film 5' is applied to a part of the section L<SB>2</SB>in the longitudinal direction of the die 3 and only to a shoulder part 4a of a V-groove 4 by electrical discharge machining.
