PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially simultaneously carry out steel ball inspections of visually inspecting flaws, discriminating a foreign material and determining a hardened state which are carried out separately in conventional methods, by using the same probe in one-time visual inspection apparatus, aimed at simplifying the inspection system as a whole, saving its footprint and shortening its processing time. SOLUTION: An eddy current equipment having the probe 7 of an upper-mounted coil type is built in the appearance inspecting apparatus, and the probe 7 is disposed near a steel ball. The visual flaw inspection which is carried out by bringing high-frequency current to flow in the probe, and discrimination of foreign materials and the determination of the hardened state which are carried out by bringing low-frequency current to flow in the same probe, can be carried out substantially in a simultaneous and continuous manner.
