PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for easily forming a wave cut pattern on the inner surface of a cylinder liner. SOLUTION: In this method of machining the interior of the cylinder liner 1 in an internal combustion engine E making rotary motion along the longitudinal direction of the liner 1, the used apparatus 10 includes: a polishing/milling tool 40 removably connected to one open end 1A of the liner 1; and a driving part 30 for controlling the polishing/milling tool 40 during machining.
