PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required from starting recording to finishing it in a recording apparatus in which maintenance operation for a recording head is necessary. SOLUTION: In the recording apparatus in which the maintenance operation for the recording head is necessary, the content of printing data received through an interface is analyzed, and when the quality of printing and the kind of a paper are in a specified combination, it is decided that executing the maintenance operation is prolonged.
