PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bioaugmentation technology in which a microorganism having high alkane-decomposition activity that decomposes alkane in a low temperature area is separated so that the defect of the bioremediation technology, in other words, the activity reduction in the low temperature period may be overcome to increase its utility and use it in the bioremediation technology. SOLUTION: Novel microorganism, Rhodococcus sp. SCRC-40412 (FERM P-20650) strain or Rhodococcus sp. SCRC-42236 (FERM P-20651) strain, deposited in International Patent Organism Depositary (IPOD) of National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), is utilized to decompose alkane and/or alkene.
