SERUM-FREE MEDIUM FOR RETROVIRUS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for acquiring a serum-free virus vector and to obtain a serum-free medium for a virus-producing cell culture usable for the method.

SOLUTION: Virus-producing cells are cultured by using a serum-free medium containing serum albumin so that the cells are cultured in the same state as that of a serum-containing medium to produce a virus vector having a sufficient titer. The virus vector prepared by the virus-producing cells cultured by the medium exhibits a gene transfer efficiency equal to that of a conventional vector. The medium is useful for gene therapy and its research.
