Process for preparing cyclohexadecanone

In the preparation of cyclohexadecanone (I) by hydrogenation of cyclohexadecenone (II) in the presence of metallic palladium (Pd), the weight ratio of Pd to (II) is under 1:5000. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) solutions containing (I) prepared by this method; (2) fragrance mixtures containing (I) prepared by this method; (3) products containing (I) prepared by this method.
