AN EFFICIENT INTERNET SERVICE IMPLEMENTATION FOR MESH SATELLITE NETWORKS

A centralized route-server (40) architecture permits Internet Protocol (IP) services to be offered over satellite mesh networks. Individual satellite terminals (32) perform forwarding of IP traffic to destination terminals (34 ) based on routing information provided by the route-server (40). External routers connecting to terminals exchange OSPF and BGP routing protocol packe ts only with the central route-server (40).
