PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passage volume control system and method for automatically judging a passage volume, automatically switching the entrance/exist ratio of a passing direction based on this judgment, and easing congestion. SOLUTION: An automatic ticket examining system 1 set at each station of a rail road is provided with plural automatic ticket examining machines 2 set in each of plural passages. Each automatic ticket examining machine 2 is provided with an entrance gate 2a for controlling entrance from the outside of a station to the inside of the station, and an exit gate for controlling exit so that passage only in one direction of either entrance or exit can be attained. At the time of controlling the passage volume, the number of passengers passing each passage is counted, and the number of the passenger entering and leaving the station is monitored, and compared with the preliminarily prepared reference data of a traffic volume so that the entrance/exit ratio can be switched. |
