The device has a measuring apparatus (101) with a liquid chamber (103) delimited by a cylindrical tube (102), and a valve (R) supplying water to the chamber. A nozzle (105) is mounted in the chamber and has a nozzle orifice (106) producing a water jet which reaches a contact zone of a piece and the device. A shoe (120) is fitted against the tube, where the shape of the shoe depends on the shape of a surface of the piece and the device rests on the piece through the shoe. The shoe maintains the jet perpendicular to the piece surface during a movement of the device on the piece.
