The apparatus has an external interface which communicates with an upgrade device. A set of microprocessors stores identification information and information regarding current software. Each of the microprocessors transmits the identification information and the information regarding the current software to the upgrade device. The microprocessors communicate the identification information and software information. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method of upgrading software for a set of microprocessors (B) a computer readable recoding medium having a computer program to perform a method of upgrading software.
