PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an abnormal image by stably removing depositions on an electrifying member. SOLUTION: The electrifying device is provided with: a gap which is formed between the surface to be electrified of a body to be electrified 3B and an electrifying rotating body 41B and has a proximal portion set to a distance of 5 to 100μm; an electric field generating means which generates an electric field in the gap; and a cleaning member 42B which comes into contact with the surface of the electrifying rotating body 41B, to remove the depositions on the electrifying rotating body 41B.
