PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration generating device capable of stopping an air cylinder always in the same condition irrespective of the rotation stop position of a valve element, using an inexpensive and simple structure. SOLUTION: This vibration generating device 1 for generating vibration is constituted by switching supply and exhaust paths for gas supplied from a supply source by rotary movement of the valve element 21 of a rotary valve 2 to reciprocate a piston rod 31 of the air cylinder 3 and giving a hit to an object by advance operation and retraction operation. In this case, a safety valve 4 for supplying gas into a rod chamber 3c or a head chamber 3b of the air cylinder 3 irrespective of the rotation stop position of the valve element 21 when rotation of the valve element 21 stops to hold the air cylinder 3 in a retraction condition or an advance condition is provided between the rotary valve 2 and the air cylinder 3. Then, the safety valve 4 is formed to supply gas into the rod chamber 3c or the head chamber 3b of the air cylinder 3 by switching operation of an electromagnetic selector valve when rotation of the valve element 21 stops.
