PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device composed by forming a charge transport layer having a relatively uniform film thickness in a pixel formation area for each display pixel; and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: Coating films 18c of a liquid-repellent triazine thiol compound are selectively formed on banks 18 (bank metal parts 18b) delimiting pixel formation areas on an insulating substrate 11; thereafter an aqueous solution of an organic polymer-based hole transport material is formed into a droplet-like form and applied to pixel electrodes 15 by employing an ink jet method; and thereafter hole transport layers 16a being charge transport layers are formed in the pixel formation areas by removing solvent by executing heat treatment in a nitrogen atmosphere by using a hot plate or the like.
