CACHING FOR LOW POWER CONSUMPTION GRID PEER-TO-PEER DEVICES
摘要
A method and system for dynamic allocation of a cache in a device is disclosed. First the cache is loaded with upload data. When a download request is started, the upload data is overwritten with download data from an external network. The cache is then flushed to a memory when the cache is full of download data. By implementing a large cache for temporary storage of incoming and outgoing data, the cache is proactively filled by predicting the data needed for the outgoing traffic. In this way a hard disk of the system may temporarily be disabled when it is not needed. Hence life expectancy of hard disks in consumer electronic devices may be increased while managing hard disk access to control power consumption by the hard disk.
