<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device which can be improved in reliability and always display video of excellent picture quality. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type video display device which spatially modules lighting luminous flux from a light source 11 by a spatial optical modulating element 9 according to video to perform projection display has reduced luminous flux converting means 3, 4, and 6 of converting the illumination luminous flux from the light source 11 into reduced luminous flux illuminating a region narrower than a modulation region 9a of the spatial optical modulating element 9, a reduced luminous flux scanning means 7 of selectively refracting the reduced luminous flux from the reduced luminous flux converting means to scan the modulation region 9a of the spatial optical modulating element 9, a luminous flux separating means 21 provided to the reduced luminous flux scanning means to separate part of the reduced luminous flux from the reduced luminous flux converting means, and optical detecting means 22 and 23 of receiving the luminous flux separated by the luminous flux separating means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
