PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder which can prevent defective ejection, etc. because of curing of ink adhered to a recording head by restricting light that reaches the recording head to a necessary limit, and which can carry out high-definition image recording, and to provide a recording method. SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder is equipped with the recording head 10 which ejects a photo-curing type ink onto a recording medium 4, an ultraviolet irradiation device 20 which irradiates the ink ejected from the recording head 10 with ultraviolet rays, a width detection sensor 45 which detects a recording region, and a control part 50 which controls the ultraviolet irradiation device 20 to reduce light intensity irradiated from the ultraviolet irradiation device 20 and turned in the recording head 10 direction to a level whereat the ink is not cured except the recording region detected by the width detection sensor 45.
