<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having further high capacity. <P>SOLUTION: This lithium secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte. In the lithium secondary battery, the negative electrode has a negative electrode mix layer containing a negative electrode active material and a binder; the negative electrode mix layer contains at least, as the negative electrode active material, a carbon material where d<SB>002</SB>≤0.3360 nm; Lc≥70 nm; and an R value [R=I<SB>1350</SB>/I<SB>1580</SB>(a ratio of Raman intensity in the vicinity of 1,350 cm<SP>-1</SP>to that in the vicinity of 1,580 cm<SP>-1</SP>)] of a raman spectrum in exciting it by an argon laser having a wavelength of 514.4 nm is 0.01≤R≤0.3; the density of the negative electrode mix layer is not smaller than 1.65g/cm<SP>3</SP>; the discharge capacity up to 1.5 V on a Li/Li<SP>+</SP>basis is not smaller than 350 mAh per 1 g of the negative electrode active material; and the utilization ratio of the negative electrode is not smaller than 310 mAh per 1 g of the negative electrode active material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
