PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device in which reduction of magnetic flux leakage from a transformer is possible. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device 1 is equipped with the transformer 11 having primary side winding wires 111 and secondary side winding wires 112, a substrate 12 mounted with a circuit for lighting a discharging lamp 4, and a magnetic shield member 15 consisting of a material composed mainly of copper or aluminum and arranged and installed at the substrate 12. Adjoining parts of at least the primary side winding wires 111 and the secondary side winding wires 112 of the transformer 11 are placed on the magnetic shield member 15.
