PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-way clutch which can obtain a sufficient upstanding of sprags with less friction loss even when the one-way clutch has a small diameter or even when it is used at a low rotating speed. SOLUTION: The one-way clutch comprises an inner ring 1, an outer ring 2, a retainer 3 disposed in an annular space, a plurality of sprags 5 received in pockets of the retainer 3, and a spring 4 which urges each sprag 5. Under such a condition that the sprag 5 is incorporated between the inner and outer rings 2, in a region on the engagement releasing side (on the right side in the drawing) with respect to a vertical line L drawn from a point of contact A between an outer ring side cam surface 5b of an end face 5c of the sprag 5 and an outer ring inner peripheral surface 2x toward the inner ring 1, a projection 5d is formed in such a manner that it projects from the sprag end face 5c. With the above constitution, as compared with the conventional one-way clutch, it is possible to secure a more sufficient upstanding amount of the sprag 5 from the inner ring 1 even in the low-speed rotation region where the disengaging speed at which the sprag 5 uprights is decreased.
