PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the longitudinal size of a wheel type work machine. SOLUTION: This wheel type work machine comprises a traveling body 2 having an engine 7 at the rear of a body frame 6 supported by front and rear wheels 4, 5. A swing table 201 is supported on the traveling body 2 so as to be swingable around the vertical swing axis X. A ground work device 203 is installed at the front of the swing table 201, and an operator's seat 205 is installed at the rear. A steering device 202 for traveling and a steering device 206 for the ground work device are installed on the swing table 201. A rear wheel differential device 38 is installed at the front of the engine 7. A rear axle 39 to which power is transmitted from the differential output shaft 58 of a rear wheel differential device 38 to rotate rear wheels 5 is installed at the rear of the differential output shaft 58 so as to be overlapped with the engine 7 in a side view.
