PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electric resistance welded tube with excellent weld part characteristic capable of reliably realizing a shape at both ends of the width of a rounded strip immediately before the electric resistance welding to a desired tapered shape, and maintaining the excellent weld quality. SOLUTION: In the middle of a process of forming a strip 20, and butting ends thereof to each other for electric resistance welding to form a tube 30, the ends of the strip are subjected to the rolling by a caliber roll 4 to give the tapered shape, and further subjected to the electric resistance welding.
