<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which improves airtightness and is capable of simplifying manufacturing steps. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical module which includes a photo cell fixed in a housing 52 and seals the photo cell by a lid 53 which transmits light, and coupled with the photo cell and the housing 52; a metal membrane 62 is formed in a peripheral upper portion of the housing 52 in contact with the lid 53, and a metal membrane 63 is formed over an outer peripheral portion and a side surface of the lid 53 in contact with the housing 52.
