PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic light emitting device capable of effectively exhausting a gas entrapped between an organic film layer and a pixel defined film when the organic film layer is formed by utilizing a laser transfer process, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: An organic light emitting device includes a first electrode layer 409 formed on a substrate, the pixel defined film 300 that is formed on the first electrode layer and where at least one step 303 is formed in an opening 414 that allows the first electrode layer to be at least partially exposed and one region around the opening, the organic film layer 301 formed on the opening of the pixel defined film, and a second electrode layer formed on the organic film layer and the pixel defined film.
