PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically make input terminals correspond to external tuners connected to the input terminals. SOLUTION: An inspection portion 109 transmits, to an external apparatus, a control signal for changing the signal level of a video signal or a sound signal which the apparatus outputs, via a communication portion 110. An input monitoring portion 106 detects the signal levels of video signals or sound signals to be inputted to input terminals of a signal receiving portion 101. A comparison determination portion 107 specifies an input terminal connected to the external apparatus, on the basis of the contents of control performed with respect to the external apparatus from the inspection portion 109, and changes in the signal levels of the signals inputted to the input terminals detected by the monitoring portion 106. Identification information for the specified input terminal is stored in a memory 108, while being related to identification information for a corresponding external apparatus.
