PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod so designed that the deflection at the boundary between a reel mount main body and a grip region is prevented and the grip region is also be made to contribute to the deflection balance of the whole fishing rod. SOLUTION: The fishing rod has a reel mount comprising a tubular main body 12 fixed by being threaded with a fiber-reinforced resin rod 10 and a pair of hoods F1 and F2, wherein the rod 10 is extended to the grip region G adjacent to the rear side of the reel mount main body 12. In this fishing rod, the flexural rigidity of the rod in the proximity of the rear end of the reel mount main body 12 is greater than that of the rod in the vicinity thereof and is also greater than that of the rod just in front of the reel mount, and furthermore, the flexural rigidity of the rod 10 is decreased rearward in the grip region within the range except the proximity of the rear end mentioned above.
