PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a module, inexpensive with a small number of components and reduced assembling man-hours and excellent in operability, capable of preventing a lock arm from being damaged and deformed, and also capable of preventing the module from jumping out by properly holding the module. SOLUTION: The socket houses the module by inserting it from its upper part, and it has a housing made of an insulating material and equipped with a bottom plate part facing the bottom part of the module and side wall parts raised from the side part of the bottom plate part to surround the module, a terminal mounted to the housing, and a holding member mounted to the side wall part. The holding member is equipped with the lock arm including an engagement part at its tip part in the inside of the socket. If the module is inserted in the socket, a guide part is deformed outward to accept the module, and the module inserted in a prescribed position is locked by the engagement part.
